And yes, according to everyone it is ok that I call it rush. As we all know, the men do not seem to care so much about being pc.
Tonight is the 3rd day of rush as well as the last day. Tonight at 10:00 pm is when fraternities can begin giving out bids and the excitement of these new members lives can begin.
Over the course of the last three days our staff has gone around and stopped in on all the men's recruitment events just to say good luck and see how they are doing... here is a synopsis of what our lovely chapters here did for recruitment:
99% of chapters were playing corn-hole at their recruitment events
25% of chapters had made some witty recruitment T-shirt that they all wore to events
25% of chapters wore chapter t-shirts
25% of chapters were dressed in nice khaki shorts and legit polos
and my favorite 25% of chapters wore pastel shirts and ties, or seersucker pants and bow ties
75% of chapters "grilled out" at some point during the week
15% ordered BBQ from a restaurant
25% of chapters had some sort of chapter display set up in the house
99% made some comment about the buses - IFC had buses shuttling guys from chapter to chapter and everyone either asked when they were coming or complained about them
1 lovely chapter gave me a full house tour
1 lovely chapter made shirts for the women hanging out at their house
1 lovely chapter played water pong with buckets filled with water and tennis balls
1 lovely chapter had two members talking with the PNM's while the other members sat in the other room and talked about them
about 60% of chapters used sorority houses to hold their recruitment events (becuase about half of our chapters are un-housed)
I love fraternity recruitment...it is SO different, so funny becuase the guys going through can be so preciously awkward and because fraternity members just do not know what to do besides feed them and play corn hole.
Not that Panhellenic recruitment is not crazy too...
