Debit Cards & Key Fob Sensors do not = friends

So today had been a lovely Saturday as I tried to cross some fun things off of my list. I wandered Dixon street, bought a used book at this great little book store, sat outside in the sun while reading and writing little cards to my mentors. I came home to shower and get ready for a fun night of dinner for one at this great little organic restaurant and coffee, a treat and more card writing at this great coffee shop that is open late.

I got all cute, actually did my hair, put on a great dress and made my way back down to Dixon. I made it to Smiling Jacks Organic Restaurant, put in my order and confidently handed the man behind the counter my card...which was then denied...twice. Tried my credit card...also denied. I apologized profusely and asked him where I could try the nearest ATM. I left and told him that hopefully I would be back in a few minutes, that I had no idea what was wrong and that I was so sorry.

Well both ATM's down the street also would not give me any money...I panicked, did not go back to the restaurant to explain myself, felt bad about not going back, and walked as quickly as possible in the 90 degree heat to Maple Hill to see if there was any money in my account via online banking. There was plenty of money... and the help line is closed until Monday. (the joys of small banks)

So the only explanation that I now have for this disaster is that when I went to Dixon this morning I put my cards, my phone and my key fob in my little wrist-let (or however you spell that). I do this often so I could not believe that it would have demagnitized my cards, but then I remembered that today I put my wrist-let up against the key fob sensor...

So now I am without money...and waiting to order pizza from Pizza Hut which magically takes checks still. I will have to send Smiling Jacks Organic ten dollars in the mail when I can get this working again...since my salad is probably still sitting there waiting for my return that will never happen again at that lovely little restaurant now that I am so mortified for running away.
