Update #1 - The Thesis

Last I filled you in I had just finished the final draft of my thesis. In the time since then I have not only turned it in (this morning) but publicly defended it to friends and family, and privately defended it to my committee. Trust me, it sounds a lot scarier than it is, really it was fun to finally be able to share my research with a captive audience for 40 minutes. I did my defense in Chi Omega's TV lounge here at OSU as I thought that it would be a fun and different way to bring my thesis to life and close out the circle of my OSU experience in the very same place that it started. After a great deal of stress and many calls to chapter members boyfriends we figured out how to get my power point up on the TV. It was wonderful! My presentation looked great(even though the one that I had originally created did not work - that's right I made two), I was dressed in my pink suit and all things were ready to go. All things except for one of my committee members was missing. I had to call over to the First Year Programs office and my missing committee member thought that my defense started at noon instead of 11:00. Whoops. Thankfully she was fast, and I was able to begin without her. After 40 minutes it was over...all that hard work for only 40 minutes to share it. After my public defense my committee was great. They had lots of questions about the implications of my research which were hard becuase they were abstract and had no real right answer, and this fact also made them easy becuase I was the expert and anything that I said would have been right :). They seemed to be impressed and kept mentioning that I had only just touched the surface of this topic and that it or something very similar could be my dissertation research topic, and that I should find ways to share this knowledge at conferences. I guess PhD here we come...
