Remembering the Crazy Schedule

It has been a little over a week since orientation ended for June. My days are much less stressful and I have been enjoying time in the evenings to spend time with my student coordinators, watch TV, and get outside. Looking back my old schedule seems completely crazy...

5:15-5:30 am - Alarm is going off
5:30-5:45 am - force myself to get out of bed, put on the clothes I have laid out, and try to make myself look presentable
5:45 am - meet Paul in his room to help him with his shoes and socks
5:50 am - leave Maple Hill for the Union
6:00 am - report to the office, pick up my headset and organize things for the day. This is also the time that I sneak in checking my email
6:30 am - mentors report to work, I check to see that breakfast is getting set up and taste the juice to make sure that it is not to watered down or sour
7:00 am or there after - release the mentors to their breakfast as soon as soon as they are all done with set up
7:35 am - kick mentors out of breakfast so that we can begin check in for day 2 students. Clean up room so that we don't get kicked out :)
7:45 am - gather college walker signs and take them outside, force my sleepy student mentors to leave each other and go to their college walker locations on the union mall. Chat with Spencer and Seth
8:15 am - check in via headset about how much longer we have to wait to release college walkers
8:20 am ish - release college walkers after Chelsea has asked many times about how much longer they have to wait
8:30 am - head inside to relax for an hour and a half. Usually work on data input in the office
10:00 am - wander around the fireplace room answering parent questions and making sure that the check-out line does not get too ridiculous
11:15 am - release the mentors working check out so that they can attend their meeting and work check out until all colleges call to confirm that they are done with advising
12:00 pm - typically able to shut down check out, take signs down and back to the red lounge
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm - work the information fair, answer parent questions, tell people good afternoon and direct them wherever they need to go
1:30 pm - lunchtime!
2:15 pm - collect college walker signs and meet college walkers outside, force them to go to their respective areas
2:15-2:35 pm - help parents and students find their academic college. Console parents who can not seem to see their child, although they are there or will be meeting them where they are going...they had no trust in the process at all
2:35 pm - release college walkers
2:40-4:45 - break! typically working on data input or something else completly random
4:45 pm - help direct parents to the housing meeting and students to small groups
5:00 pm - welcome students to dinner
5:15 pm - eat dinner
5:45 pm - collect small group signs from mentors at dinner and take them upstairs to storage room for tomorrow
6:00 pm - take props for Transitions out of the storage room and meet mentors in the theater for Transitions practice
6:45 pm - release mentors from transitions practice, take props backstage
7:00 pm - set up props, microphones, etc. make sure that correct power point is chosen and that Spencer and Seth are set
7:05-7:10 pm - give the sign to start transitions
7:55 pm - pick up props and microphones, take props back to storage room
8:00 pm - help mentors set up for Pig Pen, guard the water, soda's and snacks from the Greek students who try to steal them and from my mentors who I tell every night that they have to wait for the incoming students to come out.
9:00 pm - begin Pig Pen take down, roll popcorn and cotton candy machine into kitchen, clean them both and put them in storage room, roll drink carts into kitchen, put sound system back into storage room, pick up games and store them back in scloset in the office
9:15-9:30 pm - meet with mentors to review highs and lows for the day
9:45-10:00 pm - staff meeting begins
10:30 ish pm - back up to the office to put away headset, wander back to Maple Hill
10:40 pm - shower, dry hair, lay out clothes for tomorrow, set alarm
11:00 pm - jump into bed

I can not believe that this is still in my head and I was able to write it without even looking at my schedule...here's to doing it all over again in August, although it is only twice :)
